Do you know flash games? Prove that you do!

Do you like to play games? I’m sure you do, and it is likely that you played lots of them. For me, as a flash game developer, it is essential to know what’s new in this area, and I play much, too. And, most important, it’s fun!

Last summer I thought of creating a list of my favourite games. I reviewed some of them in the GameGemsOrg blog and created PlayGFG gaming portal to gather them all in one place (that site is constantly updated as I find another example of game design masterpiece). Currently there must be almost 200 games in the list. And another idea which came to me around the last New Year eve was to make a quiz game about these games, the real gems of the flash game development.

So, now I can proudly present “Do You Know Flash Games?” quiz. The quiz appearance is inspired by “Who Want to be a Millionaire?” TV show. You still have 15 questions of growing difficulty, 4 answers and 3 lifelines. They are 50/50, Ask the audience and Change the question. But the game has additional features which can make it much more fun than the usual trivia quiz.

First of all you can click on the game screenshot and open the game portal’s page with the mentioned game itself. Then you can play it a bit, find out the answer, return to the quiz and answer the question. This is an analogue of “Phone-A-Friend” lifeline. More of that, many players on Kongregate stated using this feature to decide, which game to play next. I’m glad and proud that my personal games selection was rated highly and many new players, who hadn’t seen some of those games before started playing them and having fun.

Besides the Classic game mode which incorporates the most part of the TV-show rules, my “Do you know flash games?” has 2 more modes: Marathon and Time Trial. In each of them you have 3 lives and 75 questions to answer. In the Time Trial mode you should do it within 5 minutes. Every time you answer incorrectly one life is lost. But if you give 5 correct answers in a row additional one is gained! Life can be traded for 30 seconds of time in the Time Trial mode. The maximum score in these modes is 20 000 000 points.

Earning the achievements is essential part of gameplay. They are given for various actions: answering questions about the game of specific genre, scoring a certain number of points etc. There are 32 of them, some are easy to get while others are not. The Extreme Millionaire achievement is one of the latter: you have to complete the Classic game mode without using any kind of hint. While all you need to do to earn the Curiosity award is to click the link to play the game in the question.

As the game is text-based is was essential to release a multilingual version to reach the players of different nations. Now the game is available in 7 languages and I want to thank Pinguina, Lambru, Jason87, Frederik77, Rafarel, Lithander, Oiloid, Silberdrache, Evi1M4chine, Oranjules and other members of FGL and Kongregate for the great help they provided. They did a great deal of work translating 200+ questions about 120+ games. I also thank Kongregaters for playing, rating and reviewing my game and making suggestions of how to make it better.

And just one more thing. From the biological point of view tomato is a berry, as well as watermelon. But it is considered to be a vegetable in everyday life, for example, when being placed on the supermarket’s shelves. And Greenland, while not a sovereign state, is autonomous country within the Kingdom of Denmark. If you don’t know why I’m telling this, perhaps, you haven’t reached those questions yet :)
